The RG&FC Logo

The broken box is to function as a symbol for RG&FC, and to be recognized by the community. The logo shows the flow of knowledge and sharing within the club and the community. The box represents the club as a whole and the space beyond represents the community. Leaves reach out to show sharing of knowledge to outsiders. Swoops come from the inside of the box, outside, then in again. This shows how a person from the club can go into the community and bring back knowledge. The text is called "flora" and is black bold to show that the club is strong. There are capital letters in every word to give the logo character and independence.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

Greater Rochester Arts & Cultural Trust’s “People’s Choice Award Finalist” - 2017

On October 17, 2017, the Rochester Garden and Flower Club (RG&FC) was invited to attend the Greater Rochester Arts & Cultural Trust’s fifth annual Celebration of Excellence in the Arts: THE FETE 2017! The Rochester Garden & Flower Club’s annual Garden Tour was recognized as one of the top three for their “People’s Choice Award” at this event, held at Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester, MN.

The Rochester Garden & Flower Club’s annual garden tour began in the 1940’s as a private “club members only” event, and opened to the public in the early 1990’s. Wanting to enhance the experience, talented local musicians and artists were invited into the private gardens in 2011 to showcase the “art” of gardening, making the RG&FC Annual Garden Tour a great annual event.

During the past 6 years, the tour has been honored to have 37 artists, 28 solo musicians and 8 musical groups have generously shared with the RG&FC’s Annual Garden Tour their talents at the private gardens. RG&FC’s tour profits assist in funding several community projects, most notably the garden renovation at the History Center of Olmsted County, Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial Gardens care and maintenance, Olmsted County 4H and Rochester Community Technical College (RCTC) horticulture scholarships.

Congratulations to the Rochester Garden & Flower Club for this prestigious honor!
